ABOUT RARE PLANTS & CO.
Exotic, Rare Plants Centered in the Heart of the South Island of New Zealand.
Kia ora and welcome to Rare Plants & Co, a small Christchurch-based business built out of a love for collecting, growing, and sharing the world’s most unique indoor plants.

What started as a personal passion slowly grew into something much bigger. Like many plant lovers in New Zealand, I began hunting for those special, exotic, hard-to-find species that you couldn’t just pick up at a garden centre. Over the years I learned how to care for delicate aroids, velvet-leaf species, collector anthuriums, and the plants that most people call “too fussy” and somewhere along the way, Rare Plants & Co was born.

Today, my goal is simple: to make beautiful, rare, and high-quality plants accessible to everyday New Zealanders, without huge markups or guesswork.

I run this business entirely myself, with some occasional help from my amazing family and friends for things like markets! Otherwise when it comes to sourcing plants, caring for them, potting, packing, delivering orders, and answering every message, I do that personally. Because it’s mostly just me behind the scenes, every plant genuinely receives individual care and attention. I don’t send out anything that I wouldn’t be proud to keep in my own collection.

Being a small, local NZ business means every order makes a real difference. It helps me continue growing rare varieties, supporting local growers, and keeping prices fair even in a tough economic climate. I know how hard times have been lately for many people, which is why I focus on keeping quality high and costs reasonable something big retailers simply can’t do.

Whether you’re a new plant parent or a long-time collector, I’m here to help you succeed. I’m always happy to offer personalised care advice, troubleshoot issues, or help you choose the perfect plant for your home, office, or a special gift. If you ever catch me at the Riccarton Sunday Market, come say hi, I’ll probably be surrounded by a jungle of plants and talking too much about humidity levels and banana skin fertilizer!

Thank you for supporting a small Christchurch business.
Thank you for choosing local.
And thank you for being part of this plant-loving community.

Welcome to Rare Plants & Co — where every plant has a story, and every customer matters.
